Pam Ann’s Comedy Show Lands at Joe’s
Described as comedy, camp, and glamour. She’s part drag-queen but definitely a woman. Pam Ann, the comedic creation of Aussie Caroline Reid, is bringing her one-woman flight attendant-themed comedy to Joe’s for a series of shows beginning tonight.
Pam Ann’s performances feature characters such as Susan, a British Airways purser with psychic powers; Donna, an EasyJet flight attendant whose dream is to stay at any destination longer than 20 minutes; and Mona, a flight attendant who has more vulgarities than pleasantries in her vocabulary.
Pam Ann’s cult-like following, once restricted to British Airways cabin crews, has gone mainstream and now includes middle-aged housewives, businessmen, and, of course, flight attendants from around the world. She’s even become a sort of a gay icon, performing at gay pride events across the globe as well as touring with Cher.
Rumor has it that the new airline endeavor by Sir Richard Branson, Virgin America, was considering using Pam Ann in their pre-flight safety demonstration video. Ultimately, the airline decided not to use her, fearing she would be "too distracting" and take away from the seriousness of the safety information. However, British Airways didn’t hesitate to use her in a television commercial. See if you can pick her out in the following t.v. spot:
