Spend Your Morning with the Ladies from "The View" (and Rake in the Loot!)
New York City isn’t exactly Los Angeles, but it does have its share of television shows that are taped in the city. One of the most popular stops for visitors, especially among women, is ABC’s morning gab-fest The View.
This year marks the eleventh anniversary of the popular and controversial talk show. Over the eleven years, The View has seen eight different co-hosts; the only originals cast members left are comedian Joy Behar and show creator Barbara Walters.
Tickets to The View are available on The View website at ABC.com. They generally tape Monday through Thursday, with a double filming one day of the week for the Friday show. Ticket holders must be outside the Upper West Side ABC studios by 9:30am, the show tapes live from 11am-12noon.
I had the opportunity to watch a taping of The View in 2004 when Meredith Viera and Star Jones were co-hosts. During commercial breaks, the co-hosts chat with the audience, and of course Star Jones spoke at length about her impending wedding. Seeing live television was an interesting experience and I was quite impressed with the rapid pace of live t.v.
My personal highlight when I attended the taping wasn’t seeing Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon or legend journalist Barbara Walters. It had to be literally running into the gorgeous All My Children actor Cameron Mathison outside the main entrance of the building!
Even if The View isn’t a favorite on your Tivo schedule, you may still want to attend a taping– they give out tons of free stuff! Yeah, the audience give-aways have gotten a little lame since Rosie O’Donnell left– Rosie gave away Carnival cruises and now they’re giving away Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville Margarita Makers– but it’s still free and you may just need a margarita after spending an hour with the ladies from The View. ___________________________________________________________________
