Catch Them Before They’re Gone!
A number of museums and shows are ending soon to make run for the new spring exhibitions. Here is my short list of shows and exhibitions you shouldn’t miss.
“Unmonumental” | The New Museum of Contemporary Art The opening show at the New Museum on Bowery. Ends today, March 30.
“Goodbye Coney Island?” | Brooklyn Museum Tracing the evolution of Coney Island with more than 50 photographs. Ends April 6.
“Street Dance: The New York Photographs of Rudy Burckhardt” | Museum of the City of New York Iconic photographs of New York’s landmarks and its people. Ends April 13.
“Madame Gres: Sphinx of Fashion” | Museum at FIT A collection from the famous Parisian courtier who clothed the likes of Doris Duke. Ends April 19.
“Close Encounters: Irving Penn’s Portraits of Artists and Writers” | The Morgan Library and Museum Penn, a legendary photographer captured the images of many famous people and 67 of these portraits are on display. Ends April 13.
“Here is New York” | New York Historical Society Artifacts and photographs from Ground Zero. Ends April 13.
Betrayed | Culture Project This Off-Broadway play, written by New Yorker journalist George Packer, explores the treacheries of the war in Iraq, focusing on the people who welcomed the American forces are were subsequently persecuted by the sectarian violence. Ends April 13.
Tim Minchin | New World Stages Australian singer-comedian Tim Minchin ends his six-week run. Ends April 12.
