Congratulations to the New York Giants! Super Bowl XLII Champions!

Gisele Bündchen I was disappointed by the first half of the game; it was shaping up to be the most boring game in the history of the Super Bowl Championship.  But both the New York Giants and the New England Patriots “brought it” in the third and fourth quarters.  Was it the pre-fab Paula Abdul halftime entertainment?  Or the numerous Gisele Bündchen-in-the- luxury-box sightings?  Who knows!  Whatever it was, it worked and the game was injected with some much-needed excitement.

With less than a minute on the clock,  Giant’s QB Eli Manning found the end zone and pushed the Giants into a three-point lead.  Then, in what would be the longest 30 seconds of my life, the Patriots got the ball with three time-outs left!  I did think it was a little premature for the Giants to wear “Super Bowl XLII Champions” hats with a second on the clock.  But, in the end, that one second didn’t matter as the New York Giants won the Super Bowl with a final score of 17-14.

My condolences to the New England Patriots.  Don’t be too down, there is always next year and you still have the Boston Red Sox.  Though perhaps FOX sportscaster Joe Buck said it best, “It’s only a perfect season if you finish it off with a win in the Super Bowl.”  Ouch.

Yes, big congrats to the Giants! I absolutely hate the Patriots because I’m a HUGE Buffalo Bills fan (sigh) and the Pats have won 9 straight over the Bills. It’s gotten old.

This was one of the greatest Super Bowls but in my mind the greatest was Super Bowl XXV when the Giants beat the Bills 20-19. The Bills won the AFC Championship game 52-10 and were 9 point favorites against the Giants. And the Giants played that game with their backup quarterback. I honestly think that was just as big a Super Bowl upset as yesterday.
