Ten Ways to Enjoy a Solo Valentine’s Day in New York City

  1. Check out the Cupid Is Stupid Party at The Town Tavern (map).  All night drink specials include $5 Cosmos, $4 mixed vodka drinks, and $3 champagne.  Free manicures and tarot card reading from 6-10pm.  
  2. You are guaranteed to score in Williamsburg at Union Pool (map).  Music, pool, and drinks equal a good time in Brooklyn.    
  3. Work out some aggression at the Anti-Valentine’s Day boxing class at Crunch Fitness in the East Village (map).  Stay after class and enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres.  7:15pm-midnight  
  4. Online dating and speed dating have nothing on The PIT Dating Game.  The People’s Improv Theatre’s yearly homage to dating games returns with questions like “If you were a flavor of ice cream, what would you be?”  Participation is not mandatory, but you may just find true love.  9:30pm
  5. Head down to the Zipper Factory for an evening of comedy with Joy Behar.  Yes, she’s the bitchy post-menopausal one from The View (her words, not mine) but maybe she’ll dish on her her co-hosts.  8pm
  6. If you’re in the mood for real comedy, look no further than the Citizens Upright Brigade’s The Rejection Show’s Valentine’s Day Heartbreak Haven which features the best breakup, heartbreak, and love related performances from shows past.  There will also be love song karaoke, live music, a DJ, free drinks, and plenty of partying.  8pm
  7. Show off your smarts at the Village Pourhouse’s trivia night.  9pm
  8. Let Kathleen Turner show you how it’s done.  See the Academy Award-nominated actress (and recent West End Mrs. Robinson) at the 92nd Street Y as she discusses her new book Send Yourself Roses. 8:15pm
  9. Prepare for next year and learn how to make truffles this year at the Institute of Culinary Education.  You’ll learn how to make these delectable confections with raspberries, Champagne, rum-raisin, spiced chocolate, and other luscious ingredients.  6pm
  10. And if all else fails, the latest chick-flick 27 Dresses will be screened at AMC Loews 34th Street and Clearview’s Chelsea.
